Ending your marriage is a big decision. It’s something you may be struggling with. While you may not be happy in your marriage, you may not know if divorce is the right solution.

While this is a difficult decision, there are some signs to consider that will let you know if divorce is on the horizon

You feel invalidated or ignored

Everyone has emotional needs. When you are in a marriage, it’s expected that your spouse will nurture, support, prioritize, and acknowledge to ensure you feel like you belong. If this isn’t happening, it may be time to consider divorce. This is especially true if you have voiced your needs to your partner, and they haven’t even tried to change or provide you with the emotional support you need.

Physical intimacy no longer interests you

Each couple has unique preferences when it comes to sexual activity. However, if you no longer have any interest in physical activity with your partner, it may be a sign that you should divorce. Physical touch and intimacy are important parts of any marriage. If it is not present, it may mean your marriage is ending.

Different life goals

Are your life goals significantly different than your partners? Do you constantly argue about finances, children and how to spend your free time? Most people don’t change what they want; if your goals are extremely different, you and your spouse may be incompatible.

Remember, filing for divorce is a legal process that will separate your life from your spouse’s. It can be emotional and difficult. Having support during this time is recommended. It’s also wise to seek legal guidance to ensure the divorce is fair.
